PROGRAM

The Pan European Days, a Euronext initiative, have welcomed over 1.000 high-level delegates from the United States and Europe in total, including Ministers, CEOs, CFOs, fund managers and financial analysts.

The main purpose of this annual event is to highlight investment opportunities in the European economies and in particular to present Euronext listed companies to the US investment community.

For this reason, this year the program is offering a two-part agenda:

  • A half-day European American Economic Forum with top keynote speakers and panel discussions on a variety of subjects including the current developments in the European economic market
  • A three-day investor conference in New York and Boston with European brokers introducing Euronext listed companies from Belgium, France, Portugal and the Netherlands to US institutional investors in one-on-one meetings.

“Europe picks up the baton”
Panel discussion and Q&A with Chief Economists from leading financial institutions.

Over the past year, European stock markets have outperformed their US equivalents. The balance of economic advantage has seemingly shifted in favour of Europe. A substantial decline in the value of the euro and plunging oil prices have played a part in this. But crucially, while the Federal Reserve debates the timing of tightening monetary policy, the markets have been preoccupied with the European Central Bank’s decision to move in the opposite direction, with an aggressive program of quantitative easing. The Economists’ panel will discuss whether the economic foundations of the outperformance of European markets will be sustained. Recent volatility in the bond market has illustrated the lack of consensus about the effects of quantitative easing. Meanwhile, panel will also address the question of whether the recovery can continue to gain momentum against a background of a febrile, if familiar, political climate.
